Teena Lavu possesses extensive experience as a senior executive and program manager in large, dispersed organizations and has refined the skills it takes to succeed in today’s high-tech workforce. However, her true passion is academic education for the less fortunate. She feels a strong responsibility to provide educational resources to those in need and sees it as a critical path to improving their chances of success. After meeting Madhu and engaging with the NSF graduates and current students, she knew this organization was a way for her to utilize her skills and experiences to have a global impact on those less fortunate.
Amit is currently a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School at Alexandria, Virginia and currently lives in Chantilly. He has helped organize and coordinate several fundraising events to raise funds for school equipment and to sponsor scholarships. He mentored children in conversational English, taught computer literacy, and was a motivational speaker at the school.
Amit has been instrumental in fundraising campaigns for NSF for the past several years.
Neel Koney is a high school student and author of a children’s book called Why Don’t Airplanes Fall Out of the Sky. He has been passionate about airplanes and engineering since childhood. He enjoys flying, including on his flight simulator which he has done since the age of eight. He has also been working with the Next Step Foundation for the past 3 years. He has contributed to the Next Step Foundation’s mission of educating those in need by interviewing and down-selecting scholarship awardees as well as helping design their website. Neel lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his parents.
